Help Choosing Crib Bedding

Having a baby at home is a lot of work but you must ensure that they have the proper bedding. Crib and baby
bedding is different than what you would use for yourself. If you aren't sure what to look for, then please read
on.
You should consult with your pediatrician to make sure that your nursery bedding is appropriate. Even something
as simple as giving an infant a pillow could be a fatal mistake. If you are using a crib with gaps between the
mattress pad and the baby crib bars, you will need a bumper to help prevent your baby from having an accident.
You should be using a flannel type sheet as the base to help keep your little one warm. Babies and infants have
a hard time keeping warm so it is important that they don't freeze during the night. The sheets should be tight to
the mattress so that there is no chance of suffocation or entanglement. The last thing you want to have happen is
for loose fabric to get wrapped around their head.
The best choice of fabric is cotton. Silk is too smooth and if they try to stand up they may fall. Linen bedding
may be too hard and rough on their skin. Cotton bedding allows the fabric to breathe, it can handle a lot of
washing, and is easy on a baby's skin. Not to mention that it is much cheaper than other fabric.
You should use simple and soft colors. A baby has a whole new world to look at and the last thing they need is
to be confused by a kaleidoscope of colors. Generally, soft blue for boys and soft pink for girls seems to fit
well.
I can't say this enough that the number one thing to keep in mind is safety. Baby blankets and crib sheets pose
the potential danger to cause harm. Keep all small items out of the baby crib and keep loose fabrics to a minimum.
Once you graduate from infant bedding, you can move on to toddler bedding which make it a bit easier for you.
