Difference Between Designer And Luxury Bedding

Sponsored Links

The false impression of designer and luxury bedding is that it only is available to the rich and the famous. In fact, you can buy luxury bedding at bedding stores right in your home town. Or you can buy it online at the many available web stores and auction sites. Another common misbelieve is that they are same. Let's take a closer look at luxury spreads and fine decor so that you are left feeling like a fabric professional.

When one thinks of luxury bedding they think of elegant patterns with gold and fluff and pillows made of clouds. This is not far from the truth. Typically they are made of very high thread counts such as 350 and higher. Some brands of Persian duvets have thread counts starting at 600 and up. This of course affects the price tremendously. Another thing you have to keep in mind is how the fabric is weaved. Some are weaved by hand and some by machine. Of course, machine weaved fabrics will be much cheaper. Over all, luxury bedding manufacturers put a lot of time and effort in their fabrics quality and style.

Designer bedding is where confusion sets in. Designer bedding refers to the brand name and fashion. While luxury bedding is mostly very comfortable, designer bedding can sometimes be just as good feeling as your average bedding. Some brands have solely marketed their brand name, but the product itself is not up to par. But usually it will have a high sense of fashion that you won't find anywhere else, and at times, is made from higher quality fabric. I like to think of this type of bedding being used to display a day bed or used on a bed that I wouldn't use very often. For me, sleeping on clouds is where it's at. Designer bedding can and will be the main focus of your bedroom.

Washing either of these types of bedding ensembles requires you to pay special attention to the manufacturer's directions. Often it will be that the only method to clean them is by dry cleaning. Often, different sheets and accessories will require different treatments.

While both of these styles of bedding are above average in quality, style, and price, they can still be within the average person's budget. Thankfully, many shops will want to hold only the latest pieces in stock so they will often offer their older styles in clearance. That is your chance to snag a really good deal. But even if you aren't able to get a deal, think of it as an investment because it will last you years if you take care of it properly.
